Efengee Electric was born in 1919 in the city of Chicago. The vision of the company was simple, help electricians get the material they needed quickly and with ease. Efengee grew to become a one-stop shop for electrical contractors throughout the great city of Chicago. In 1988, Consolidated Electrical Distributors acquired the assets of Efengee Electrical Supply Company, Inc. in hopes of furthering the business and providing simpler distribution to Chicagoland’s electrical contractors. Over the years, CED/Efengee has  grown immensely, but we have never forgotten where we came from and who got us here; our customers. Since our inception, we have believed in tailoring our business to those who use it. We believe in doing business one customer at a time, and that’s the way it will always be.

OUR VISION

Our vision is to build more than business relationships, but genuine partnerships with our customers. CED hopes to accomplish this by tailoring our business to fit the needs of not just our individual markets but each of our individual customers, and grow to be the most reliable, and affordable electrical equipment distributor for each of our valued customers.

We constantly focus on two things, dedication to our customers and an emphasis on long term growth, to ensure that we are the leading low-cost supplier of electrical materials in our market. We have gained our power within the industry by consistently providing our customers with the best brands in the industry, delivered on time, every time, from a distributor that cares about our customer relationships.

COMPANY HISTORY

  • In 1919, Efengee Electric opened its doors in downtown Chicago. Efengee grew to become a premier distributor of electrical equipment rapidly by being committed to getting their customers the products they needed rapidly and conveniently.

  • In 1957, across the country in California, a new company was being created. Through the acquisition and merging of three separate companies, Consolidated Electrical Distributors, or CED, was born. The unique organizational structure that the company implemented focused on autonomy for businesses to match their market needs is still the foundation that all CED locations are built on today.

  • Following the tradition of growth and expansion that CED is built on, CED acquired the assets of Efengee Electrical Supply, Inc., in the city of Chicago. CED’s vision was simple, to expand an already thriving distribution center within a major city and provide even higher quality services to their customer base.

  • In 2016, CED still operates with our eyes looking forward. We are actively recruiting new talent out of college to bring in new concepts and models for our business, while remaining grounded in our tried and true framework. We only focus on one thing more than growth of our business and that is our customers. Without the loyalty of our dedicated customers, CED could never have grown into what it is today and we actively work to ensure that our customers’ satisfaction is our #1 priority.
